“The standard is the standard, and while CrossFit is infinitely scalable, we don’t move the goalposts to make it easier or more comfortable. CrossFit both attracts and develops grit.” – Nicole Carrol
The NOBULL CrossFit Games are wrapping up today which means that by dinner time tonight we’ll know who the fittest individuals, teams, age group, and adaptive athletes are on the planet. It’s an incredible testament to the hard work, consistency, and fitness that these athletes have. What’s even more incredible than what we’re seeing on the floor, is the amount of sacrifice, passion, and support that it takes to make an event like the CrossFit Games run. There are hundreds of volunteers behind the scenes from event staff, medical personnel, judges, equipment staff, and coaches from around the world who are showcasing their love for CrossFit by helping run the Games.
It’s truly one of the most incredible experiences to be surrounded by others who share a passion for helping people live a happier and healthier life. The CrossFit ethos has driven thousands of affiliate to open with the purpose of supporting the overall mission to help 30 million people leverage the CrossFit methodology as their way to improve the quality of the life by 2030. This is a huge goal that can only be accomplished by the work of the community. This weekend has been a testament to what makes CrossFit special. The CrossFit Games is a showcase of the best athletes, but also includes group workouts, coaching seminars, mastermind groups, and so many other moments of connecting with the community. It has us fired up to return home and continue to help our community and those around us get fitter.
The experience of the Games is very similar to what we all go through on a day to day basis in the garage. There are days when we feel great and the workouts go well for us, and then challenging days when it feels like a win just to show up. There are times we cheer each other on and lift each other up in the toughest parts of the workouts, and there are moments we are jumping up and down up for our own accomplishments. Regardless of how the workout goes, we know we are getting fitter, mentally stronger, and more resilient to handle whatever life throws at us. It’s through the daily consistent effort, and the community drive that we move towards our goals. Just like the athletes this weekend are showcasing what is possible, we can push ourselves to see what is possible for us each day in the garage.
Let’s celebrate the athletes of this weekend and let it motivate us to keep showing up for ourselves and those we care about so that we can live happier, healthier lives.
