“Having fun is not a diversion from a successful life, it is the pathway to it.” – Martha Beck
How much fun have you been experiencing in life lately? There is the weekend that we look forward to, the trip we have planned for a vacation, the hobbies that we get to take part in, or the random moments with our work that are fun. There are times it may feel like fun is reserved for a few select times in our life.
What if we could find ways to add more fun to our lives? Would it help to decrease the stress? Would it help us to look forward to more days and moments? What about our workouts and CrossFit classes, would you characterize the challenging physical challenges as fun?
There are certainly moments during classes that may not be as much fun as others. Like the last round of a 5 round workout when your heart feels like it’s beating out of your chest, and your muscles are ready to stop working. Or when you have been working to master a skill or lift a certain weight, only to feel like it’s still out of reach.
Finding fun in what you’re doing helps us to stay consistent, and make those activities part of our daily routine. The fun part of CrossFit may be the chance to socialize before and after class. It may be the feeling we experience of being strong while doing a lift. It may be partnering up and taking on a local competition or event to create new memories. It may be the sense of accomplishment of being fitter than we were previously. It may also be sending and sharing memes that only our fellow CrossFit athletes understand.
This week let’s find fun in the small moments each day, and use it to help us make movement part of our daily routine.
