“Allow yourself to be proud of yourself, and all the progress you’ve made. Especially the progress no one else can see.”

After wrapping up three weeks of the CrossFit Open, it can be easy to look back and beat ourselves up about how we performed or focus our attention on the weights and movements we could not perform. It’s human nature to focus our time, energy, and attention on the things we want to get better at and improve. There is certainly a time and place for this, but how often do we take a second to experience pride in where we are?

Watching athletes approach these past three weeks with a great attitude and effort as well as overcome the doubts about doing something difficult is one of the most meaningful experiences for coaches. Everyone can be proud of what was accomplished and the shared experience over the last few weeks.

Taking time to appreciate where you are and how far you’ve come can allow you to experience gratitude, which is a super power for building optimism. We are all on different journeys and are at different places with our health and fitness. We are all working to figure out how we can show up as the best versions of ourselves for the people in our lives. Many times, we do not give ourselves enough credit for where we are or the path we’re on.

This week, let’s take a few moments and recognize what we have been able to accomplish along with the effort and attitude we showed up with. It helps give us perspective on where we’ve been and can keep us motivated to move forward to see where we can go.

Sharing is caring!
